How to Publish Your Site
Publishing makes the site you've built visible to the world. Here's how to do it and what happens behind the scenes.
Publish your site
- Open the project you want to publish in the Kite editor.
- Click Publish in the top-right corner.
- The first time you publish, pick a Site Domain for your free
kite.spaceaddress, then click Publish. See Your free kite.space URL for how that works. - Wait a few moments while Kite deploys your site.
- When it's done, Kite shows you the live link to your site.
What happens when you publish
- Kite takes the latest changes from your editor and deploys them to the live web.
- Anything you've edited but not yet published stays in the editor until your next publish.
- The first time you publish, Kite assigns your free
<name>.kite.spaceweb address. That address stays with your project. See Your free kite.space URL.
info
Only published changes are visible to visitors. The editor and preview show your work-in-progress; the live site shows your most recent publish. Learn more in My Changes Aren't Showing on the Live Site.
Next step
Want to use your own web address instead of kite.space? Once your site is published, you can connect a custom domain.
Troubleshooting
- The Publish button does nothing or shows no changes. You may have already published your latest edits. See My Changes Aren't Showing on the Live Site.
- Publishing failed or showed an error. See Why Did Publishing Fail?.
- The editor is frozen and you can't click Publish. See Editor frozen.
