Manage, Cancel, or Downgrade Your Subscription
You can manage your own subscription at any time — no need to email anyone. This page shows where to go and explains the difference between canceling and downgrading.
Where to manage your subscription
- Go to Billing (
/billing) in your account. - Select the Manage button. This opens the secure billing portal (powered by Stripe).
- From the portal you can:
- Update your payment method or card details.
- Change your plan (upgrade or downgrade).
- Cancel your subscription.
- View past invoices and receipts.
The billing portal is handled by Stripe, a trusted payment provider. Your card details are stored securely there, not in your Kite site.
Canceling vs. downgrading
These sound similar but do different things:
- Canceling ends your paid subscription. You'll usually keep paid features until the end of the period you've already paid for, then your account moves to the free option.
- Downgrading switches you to a lower plan (including the free tier) while keeping your account active. You don't lose your account — you just lose access to the higher plan's features.
When you downgrade to the free tier, extra apps or sites beyond the free limit may be locked until you upgrade again. Your content isn't deleted, but you may not be able to edit or publish everything until you're back on a paid plan.
What changes after canceling or downgrading
- Custom domains may stop working if a domain is a paid-plan feature. See Custom Domains.
- The "Built with Kite" badge may reappear on your site. See Remove the "Built with Kite" Badge.
- Your monthly credit allowance changes to match your new plan. See How Credits Work.
Want to keep your site live and your branding intact? Downgrade thoughtfully, or consider buying top-up credits instead of dropping a plan.
Common questions
Will I lose my site if I cancel? Your site content isn't deleted, but paid-only features may stop working and your account returns to the free option.
Can I get a refund? Refunds are handled by support and depend on the situation. Reach out and explain what happened.
I canceled by mistake. Can I undo it? Open Billing again and re-subscribe, or restart your plan from the Manage portal. If you're stuck, contact support.
How do I delete my account entirely? Canceling a subscription is not the same as deleting your account. See Delete Account.
