Delete Your Account & Data

If you want to remove your Kite account and the data tied to it, this guide explains how to request it and what happens afterward. It also clears up a common point of confusion: deleting your account is not the same as canceling your subscription.

Deleting is permanent and immediate

Deletion removes your sign-in identity right away, and it cannot be undone. It also deletes your personal teams and every website in them, which takes those published sites offline.

Account deletion versus canceling your subscription

  • Delete your account removes your identity, your personal teams, and their websites. You are leaving Kite entirely.
  • Cancel your subscription stops future billing and keeps your account and sites in place. See Manage Your Subscription.

If your goal is simply to stop being charged, cancel your subscription instead.

Before you delete

  1. Cancel any active subscription first. Deletion is refused while a personal team still has an active paid plan. See Manage Your Subscription.
  2. Export any site you want to keep. Download the source code from each site's Settings. See Export or Download Your Site.
  3. Disconnect any custom domain you want to use elsewhere. See Custom Domains.

How to request deletion

Account deletion is handled by the Kite team rather than by a button in your settings.

  1. Open Chat with us in Kite (or on kite.ai) and ask for your account and data to be deleted.
  2. Give the email address you sign in with so the team can locate the account.
  3. Confirm the request when asked. Once confirmed, deletion is immediate.

What happens to shared teams

If you belong to a team with other owners, that team is preserved. Your websites in it are reassigned to another owner, and the team carries on without you.

Refunds

Deleting your account does not by itself trigger a refund. If you believe you are owed one, mention it in the same conversation with support.

Troubleshooting

I only wanted to stop paying. Cancel your subscription instead. Your account and sites stay intact.

Support says deletion was refused. A personal team still has an active subscription. Cancel it, then ask again.

I deleted by mistake. Deletion is immediate and cannot be reversed. You can create a new account with the same email, but your previous teams and sites are gone.
