Preview Won't Start
The preview pane is where you see your site as you build it. When it will not start, it is usually a temporary glitch, not a problem with your website. The fixes below clear it up in most cases.
Symptoms
- The preview shows Preview couldn't start with a Retry button.
- The preview is blank or white.
- The preview does not reflect your latest change.
Cause
Almost always a temporary loading problem: a slow connection, a momentary server hiccup, a browser extension getting in the way, or a stale browser session. Your site and its data are stored separately and are safe.
Your site is safe
A preview that will not start does not mean you have lost your work. Your project, content, and versions are stored separately from the preview window.
Fixes to try in order
- Click Retry. If the preview shows the Retry button, use it. This restarts the preview and fixes most cases.
- Refresh the page. Reload the browser tab and give the preview a moment to rebuild.
- Wait a minute, then retry. If a server was briefly busy, a short wait often clears it.
- Reopen the project. Go back to your websites list and open the project again.
- Try a different browser, or disable extensions. Ad blockers and privacy extensions can block parts of the preview. A private window usually disables them.
- Check your internet connection.
- Contact support if it persists. Open Chat with us and include your site URL, what you tried, and a screenshot.
